Ahoy Matey! Happy 90th Birthday Donald Duck!

It’s June 9th which means….Happy 90th Birthday Donald Duck!

All week The Creole Peach has been celebrating my favorite Disney character for his birthday. I’ve done fashion looks, treats and other fun content all showcasing my love of Donald Duck. Since today is his actual birthday, I wanted to end this birthday series showing my favorite themed outfit. From Her Universe, I am wearing this two piece set that is human equivalent of Donald’s sailor outfit.

Why does he wear a sailor uniform anyway? Well, there are many theories as to why. I’ve read it could be due to sailors and ducks being both associated with water. In the television show Ducktales, he was frequently away serving the in the Navy, although in earlier cartoons he served in the US Army during WWII. Or, he wears a uniform similar to small children whose parents dress them up as little sailors as babies. I mean, I had various versions of sailor outfits as a little girl. I can’t seem to find a definitive answer, but all these theories seem fine to me. Either way, the sailor outfit he wears is truly iconic. And truth be told, the US Navy (and Marines) does have the best uniforms.

FASHION:

My two piece set comes from the brand Her Universe. They actually released a beret to go with this outfit, but I opted to wear my own navy beret from Amazon. Her Universe also released a Donald purse that was so adorable but I am wearing my favorite navy bag from Anthropologie instead. I threw on some yellow Keds, my Donald Baublebar earrings and a bright red lip to complete my look. I have loved this birthday series dressing like Donald Duck, and I hope you guys have too!
